Oklahoma Favorite Vacation Rentals by Owne Houses and Condos.

The Great Plains of Oklahoma give way to pine forests in the southeast, rugged mountains in the southwest, mesas in the Panhandle, and lakes and forests in the northeast.  Throughout the state of Oklahoma, you'll find unique vacation rentals by owner, whether an Oklahoma cabin or a Grand Lake, Oklahoma vacation rental condo.  Vacation rentals in Oklahoma offer you privacy and spaciousness, often at a lower cost than many hotels, and place you in the heart of it all.

TULSA AND OKLAHOMA CITY ARE GREAT LOCATIONS FOR YOUR VACATION RENTAL.

Route 66 cuts across Oklahoma, and the aged gas stations and cafes along its length attest to a timeless quality of American life captured by this agriculture and gas-producing state.  Route 66 connects Oklahoma's two biggest cities, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.  Tulsa was once known as “The Oil Capital of the World,” and the city has preserved many of its 1920s and '30s Art Deco architectural gems.

Oklahoma City, the state capitol, was literally built in a day, materializing on the prairie April 22, 1889, during the most famous in a series of land rushes.  Now the infamous 1995 Oklahoma City bombing has spawned the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

OKLAHOMA BOASTS A LARGE AND VIBRANT NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN POPULATION.

Oklahoma is home to one of the nation's largest Native American Indian populations.  More than 30 Native American tribes are headquartered in Oklahoma.  Powwows celebrate and preserve American Indian heritage including the tales of ancestors driven west along the Trail of Tears.  In Anadarko, Oklahoma, Indian City U.S.A. serves as a vast outdoor museum of highly reliable reconstructed Native American Indian villages, with tours provided by knowledgeable tribe members.

Oklahoma was crossed in great cattle drives by the American cowboy (and cowgirl,) and rodeos from one end of the state to the other display skills that have been vital to cowboys since the days of the Chisholm Trail.  Oklahoma City celebrates the state's cattle-driving past with the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, dedicated to the men and women who pioneered the West.

CONSIDER SELECTING VACATION RENTALS IN OKLAHOMA'S FOUR NATIONAL RECREATION AREAS.

Oklahoma's 50 state and four national recreation areas reflect the beauty and diversity of the state.  Oklahoma's national sites include the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Washita Battlefield National Historic Site, Fort Smith National Historic Site, and the new Oklahoma City National Memorial.

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area offers natural springs, streams and lakes with plenty of camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and hunting opportunities.  Archaeologists believe that people have lived in this oasis area for thousands of years. Folklore says the ancient people called this place “the Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters.”

Oklahoma's Washita Battlefield National Historic Site memorializes the massacre of the Southern Cheyenne village of Peace Chief Black Kettle by the 7th U.S. Cavalry under Lt. Col. George A. Custer just before dawn on November 27, 1868.

The Fort Smith National Historic Site includes the remains of two frontier forts and the Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas, and stands today as a reminder of 80 turbulent years in the history of Federal Indian Policy.  A walking trail along the Arkansas River includes wayside exhibits on the Trail of Tears.

Oklahoma City National Memorial honors the victims, survivors, and rescuers involved in the April 19, 1995 bombing.  The outdoor memorial consists of The Gates of Time, Reflecting Pool, Children's Area, Rescuers' Orchard, The "Survivor Tree" and The Memorial Fence.

ABUNDANT MAN-MADE LAKES AND RIVERS PROVIDE GREAT OKLAHOMA VACATION RENTAL HOME DESTINATIONS AND GREAT FISHING, SWIMMING AND BOATING.

A dry Western state evoking images of the Dust Bowl shouldn't have as much water as Oklahoma does. Though the state is naturally blessed with a multitude of rivers, Oklahoma has more man-made lakes than any other state, with over one million surface acres of water and 2,000 more miles of shoreline than the Atlantic and Gulf coasts combined.  All of this water provides ample recreational opportunities.  Swimming is popular at Turner Falls Park, where a 77-foot waterfall cascades into a lovely natural pool. Swimmers also flock to Arcadia, Ellsworth and Lawtonka Lakes, fed by streams from the Wichita Mountains.

Lake Texoma on the Texas-Oklahoma border offers countless secluded coves perfect for boating, and the swimming, fishing, water skiing and wind surfing are superb. Lake Thunderbird is also known for its ideal sailing and wind surfing conditions.

Lake Altus-Lugert is great for boating.  A 3,600-acre public hunting area on the lake's northern shore supports large numbers of quails, turkeys and waterfowl, among other wildlife.

Great Oklahoma fishing lakes yield bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, trout and walleye.

OKLAHOMA CABINS, CONDOS AND VACATION HOMES IN THE HEART OF IT ALL.

For less than the price of a hotel, enjoy the privacy and spaciousness of an Oklahoma vacation rental cabin, condo and home.
