It once served as the major whaling port of the Pacific and at one time was also capital of Hawaii. This city is steeped in history and would be a history buff's haven. For the die-hard shopper this is the place to visit. Just remember that where Lahaina is so popular it brings crowds of people so be prepared to cope with this kind of traffic both walking and driving, the latter being next to impossible In some places.

If you decide on traveling to West Maui's North shore, you're in for the most thrilling sights of your life. With it's rugged coastline you will see and enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches and bays that you have ever encountered before. These are not well known, so you won't find the crowds there as you would on the well-known beaches. Take your time and explore. The drive itself will take a few hours but if your making this trip take time to soak up the beauty of this island paradise.

There is so much to see and do even on the drive to West Maui's North Shore, more than what is mentioned here so be prepared to end up breathless from the beauty you will witness that nature bestowed on this island so generously.
