Where to Stay in Tasmania

If you are planning to visit the island of Tasmania, the first thing you need to decide on is where you are going to stay while on the island. The Tasmanian accommodations are as varied as the island’s splendid scenery, so there is sure to be a place to stay that matches your needs, wishes, and budget.

One option when visiting Tasmania is to rent an apartment style condominium. This is a great option if you would like to do some of your own cooking, or if you plan to spend significant amounts of time indoors. Seachange is a great option because it has seaside villas for you to enjoy. All of Seachange’s rooms feature balconies and two baths, as well as a full kitchen setup. You can barbeque on the site’s facilities, and each room is within walking distance to the beach.

For a more private experience, consider renting one of the Blackwood Park Cottages. Each individual cottage is set amongst the rolling hills of the Tasmanian park-like country. Located in the Northwestern part of the island, each cottage provides you and your family a cozy retreat after a fun filled day exploring the island.

For a traditional Tasmanian bed and breakfast experience, head to Clydesdale Manor in the south. This lovely Georgian styled bed and breakfast has seven suites for its guests. With so few guests at a time, you know you are going to receive the finest treatment the island has to offer! Each morning you can enjoy a gourmet breakfast on the veranda overlooking the property’s gardens.

For a true Tasmanian experience, consider staying at a traditional Tasmanian homestead and farm. These accommodations give you the opportunity to experience the warmth and friendliness of the people of Tasmania. You can help native farmers tend to their livestock and crops, whether it be harvesting kelp or sheering sheep. For example, consider the Beachside Retreat West Inlet in the northwest. The retreat has its own private beach, and the lodges have room for up to five guests. This is a working cattle farm, and guests can enjoy the thrill of watching a real cattle farm at work!

Of course, many visitors prefer to stay in a traditional hotel, and in Tasmania, even a standard hotel becomes luxurious. The Silver Hills Motel in the Northwest part of the island gives guests breathtaking views of the mountains of Queenstown all from a modern hotel. This hotel gives you easy access to the town of Queenstown, with plenty of dining and historical sites to explore.

Many choose to come to Tasmania to backpack across the rugged countryside. For backpackers, the island provides many hostels. The Central City Backpackers, for example, offers backpackers the opportunity to sit back and relax in a comfortable dormitory or private bedroom. The hostel also has a full kitchen for guests to use.

Whatever your reason for visiting Tasmania, there are accommodations to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. From rustic mountain lodges to luxurious seaside resorts, Tasmania offers its guests a variety of lodging options.
